Arrive into Delhi
Welcome to Vardhman's "Ladakh Hemis Festival Tour"!
On arrival in Delhi, you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's representative to your hotel. Relax for a while and later proceed on a half day tour of New Delhi.
Visit Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Lakshminarayan Temple, a modern Hindu Temple, Parliament House, Government Secretarial Building and Connaught place, the shopping centre of New Delhi.

Day 02: Delhi - Leh
After breakfast transfer to Delhi airport to board flight for Leh. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel by our representative. Complete day for the acclimatization which is 3500 meters above sea level. In the evening take a short walk around Leh bazaar at your own.

Day 03: Leh
Morning at leisure. Afternoon depart for sightseeing of Spituk, Phiyang, Sankar Monastery,Tissure & Shanti Stupa in Chanspa village.
Spituk Monastery: The Spituk Monastery of Ladakh is situated at a distance of approximately 8 km from the town of Leh. Towering over a conical, the 3-chapel monastery dates back to the 11th century, when it was founded century by Od-de, the elder brother of Lha Lama Changchub Od. He was the one to introduce a monastic community here. When a translator, Rinchen Zangpo, came to this place, he said that an exemplary religious community would develop there. This statement led to the naming of the monastery as Spituk, meaning Exemplary.
Phiyang Gompa : 17 Kms from Leh on the Leh-Kargil road, it looks like a huge palace from afar, build by Tashi Namgyal in the later half of the 16th century AD, it belongs to the Red Cap sect of Buddhists. Hundreds of icon of Buddha and other gods are kept on wooden shelves.

Ladakh Hemis Festival TourSankar Gompa & Village : A relatively modern monastery, it is closely associated with the Spituk monastery and served as the residence of the late head priest-Kushak Bakula. A number of gold icons are to be found here.
Shanti Stupa (Japanese Peace Pagoda) : Shanti Stupa/Japanese peace pagoda is build by a Japanese religious organization headed by Head monk Nakamura with the help from the organization and local people. It is situated at a hill top in Cahngspa village providing a bird eye view of the Leh town and the surrounding mountain peaks. Architecturally it has the Japanese touch with small clean rooms on the side for meditators and the main Japanese shrine at the entrance.
Return to the hotel. Evening at leisure activities.

Day 04: Leh - (Festival) Hemis - Phyang - Taktak Festival
Enjoy the famous Hemis Monastery Festival or Taktak Festival.
Hemis Monastery Festival: Celebrated on tenth day of the Tibetan lunar month, Hemis Monastery is a two-day festival that celebrates the birthday of Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche) the founder of Tibetan Buddhism.
Taktak Festival: A popular festival, Taktak and Chimrey Anchuk is celebrated at the gompas of the Nigmpa sect in Jammu and Kashmir. It falls on the 29th and 30th days of the 9th Bodhi month.

Day 05: Leh (Festival)
Visit and enjoy Festival or OPTIONAL VISIT to after breakfast visit Sabu & SOS Tibetan Children Village, Leh Palace & Bazzar or full day sightseeing tour of Shey,Thiksey & Hemis Monastery along with lunch packet, depending upon the tour. After visit return to your hotel in Leh for an overnight rest.

Day 06: Leh - Uletokpo via Likir & Alchi (109 Kms)
Early morning depart for Uletokpo one of the most important & beautiful monasteries of Ladakh visiting Likir & Alchi monastery on the way. Upon arrival in late afternoon check into tented camps for overnight rest.
Morning after leisurely breakfast drive to Leh, enroute visit Alchi and Likir Monasteries. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.
Likir Gompa : Founded in the 11th century and rededicated to a different monastic order in the 15th century, its earlier Gompa was destroyed in a fire. The present Gompa dated back to the 18th century. Skilled craftsmen producing excellent Thankas, earthen pots and carved wooden folding stools, live here in the village. Majestically situated, Likir commands a spectacular view. A magnificent giant Jupiter tree, one of the few survivors of its species, stands in the courtyard.
Alchi Gompa : 70 Kms from Leh, on the banks of the Indus, is the Alchi Gompa dating a thousand years back. One of its walls features thousands of miniature sized pictures of the Buddha. Three large sized images made of clay and painted brightly are its focal attractions. No longer an active religious center, it is looked after by monks from the Liker monastery. This is the only monastery amongst 34 monasteries, which is not located on a hilltop.

Ladakh Hemis Festival TourDay 07: Leh - Lamayuru - Leh (110 Kms)
Early morning depart for Lamayuru to visit the monastery.
It is situated at a distance of approximately 127 km to the west of Leh. The legend associated with this monastery goes that at the time of Sakyamuni (the Historical Buddha), nags (holy serpents) used to live in a Lake at the present day Lamayuru's valley. It was the prediction of the Bodhisattva Madhyantaka that the lake would get drained out, making the place for the construction of a monastery. It is further believed that in 11th century, Mahasiddhacharya Naropa, Indian Buddhist scholar, meditated for many years in a cave in Dukhang, still seen today.
After visiting the monastery drive back to Leh enroute visiting a Sikh Gurudwara known as Pith/Pathar Sahib just 25 kms short of Leh town.
Pith/Pathar Sahib: Built by Buddhist Lamas nearly five centuries ago to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion, to Ladakh, the Gurudwara Pathar Sahib is visited by Hindu and Sikh devotees, besides tourists.
Upon arrival in the evening check into hotel for overnight stay.

Day 08: Leh -Spituk-Zinchen Trek (Approximately 04 Hrs.)
After breakfast drive to Spituk. Upon arrival start trek to Zinchen. Upon arrival in Zinchen village check into your camp for an overnight rest.

Book NowDay 09: Zinchen - Rumback (Approx. 04 Hrs.)
After breakfast trek to Rumback enroute cross Rumback River. One may come across some wildlife, during the trek such as blue sheep's, deer & some migratory birds. Rumback is an interesting village.
Upon arrival in Rumback village check into two men tent, meals & Overnight in camp.

Day 10: Rumback - Stok - la (Approx. 06 Hrs.)
After breakfast trek to Stok-la pass 4603 mts. Upon arrival at Stok- la check into your tented camp. On a clear day one gets nice commanding view of Stok- Kangri peak.

Day 11: Stok - la - Stok - Leh (APPROX. 04 Hrs)
After breakfast trek to Stok - an easy trek. Upon arrival visit the Stock Palace.
Stok Palace & Museum : The palace of the banished royal family, Stok has a museum which displays fabulous period costumes and jewelry of the royalty along with exquisite Thankas representing the life style of Shakya Muni. Interesting historical objects like coins, armor, weapons, precious jades and porcelain too can be seen here.
After visiting Stok Palace drive back to Leh. Upon arrival check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 12: Leh - Pangong Lake - Leh (125 Kms)
This morning after a lesiurely breakfast visit Pangong Lake.
Pangong Tso or Pangong Lake: A lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,250 m and is 134 km long and extends from India to China. Two thirds of the length of this lake lies in China. The lake is 5 km (3 mi) wide at its broadest point.
This lake is the highest in Ladakh and is famous for colorful stones and wild flowers (in summer months).
After visiting the lake return to Leh for an overnight stay.

Full day free for lesiure activities.

Day 14: Leh - Tsomoriri (268 Kms 08 Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Tsomoriri via Mahai Bridge. Upon arrival check into tented camp in Kurzok village 4100 mts.
Evening at leisure for personal activities.
Overnight: Camp

Day 15: In Tsemorari
After breakfast walk around the Tsemorari Lake this area changes its colors as per the weather condition one can see the various species of birds and visit Kurzok Gompa & village.
Tsomoriri or Lake Moriri, in the Changthang (literal meaning, northern plains) area, is a High Altitude Lake (HAL) with an altitude of 4,595 m (15,080 ft) in Ladakh. India and is the largest of the High Altitude Lakes in the Trans-himalayan biogeographic region, entirely within India. It is hemmed between Ladakh in the North and Tibet in the east and Zanskar in the west; the Changthang plateau is the geographical setting with snow peaks that provides the source of water for the Lake. Tsokar Lake is approximately 45 km northwest of the Tsomoriri Lake at a height of 4485 m. It is also called "White Lake" because of the salt deposited

Day 16: Tsemorari - Leh (268 Kms 08 Hrs)
After breakfast depart for Leh via Tsokhar & Tanglang-la pass 5320 mts, one may see the wild ass in this region it is known as Changthang region of Ladakh which extends all the way into Tibet.
Upon arrival late in the evening, check into the respective hotel for overnight rest.

Day 17: In Leh
Full day free for lesiure activities.

Day 18: Leh - Delhi
In the morning transfer to Leh airport to board flight for Delhi. On arrival you will be met and transferred by our representataive to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 19: Delhi
Morning proceed for the sightseeing of the city.
Visit Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Lakshminarayan Temple, a modern Hindu Temple, Parliament House, Government Secretarial Building and Connaught place, the shopping centre of New Delhi.
Visit Red Fort, built in 1648 by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan, Jama Masjid, one of the largest Mosque of India, Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana, the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Also drive past Chandni Chowk, shopping centre of Old Delhi.

Day 20: Delhi
On the last day of your tour transfer to Delhi International airport to board the flight for your onward journey to back home with sweet and pleasant memories of your "Ladakh Hemis Festival Tour" escorted by Vardhman Vacations.
